About the Author

Madan Mohan Sharma (1934-2011) was a prolific Dogri writer who inspired two generations of writers and made pioneering contribution in Dogri literary renaissance. A college teacher by profession, Madan Mohan was an acclaimed novelist, short story writer, dramatist, critic and essayist. He was awarded by the Sahitya Akademi in 1974 for his anthology of short stories entitled Dudh! Lahu! Zehr! He was also a recipient of various other awards for his contribution to Dogri literature. Known for his profundity, his writings cover a wide range of social situations and he wrote radio plays as well. His play Banjar was awarded at national level.

Vandana Sharma is currently serving as Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Head, Department of Languages and Literature, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. She has eighteen years experience in teaching and research and has published numerous research papers in national and International journals. As an academic with diverse interests such as. Translation, Gender studies, Post colonial studies and Indian English Literature, she has presented papers in numerous national and international conferences with in the country and abroad. She has one critical work and two translations to her credit. As an active practicing translator, she translated the much acclaimed Dogri play Bawa Jitto, written by Padmashree Professor Ramnath Shastri and a collection of Dogri Essays edited by Professor Lalit Mangotra
