Book Description
Actually it was the greatest pleasure of the gopis to see Krsna stealing from their homes. In fact, they prepared choicest of milk products in anticipation that Krsna would come and steal. Relishing His thievery internally, but rebuking Him externally was the special prerogative of these pure motherly devotees, in awe of Yasoda's fortune of being Krsna's mother. But they thought she must be bereft of the pleasure of witnessing Krsna's stealing pastimes, for He wouldn't need to steal in His own house. To give Yasoda the same pleasure, the gopis went to her house to narrate Krsna's stealing acts, on the plea of complaining against Him.
Mother Yasoda indeed experienced a greater pleasure upon hearing Krsna's pastimes from the gopis than the gopis did by witnessing them firsthand. This is the special feature of Krsna's enchanting Lilas: when narrated by His pure devotees like the gopis or Sukadeva Gosvami in the Bhagavatam, they taste even more nectarean, being mixed with their love.
