Book Description
The Ancient Hindu Kings The Muslim Kings The Khalsa Kings For a long time it was felt that the empty shelf in the library of world-knowledge should be filled with a comprehensive book on the history of Kashmir. Many historians have written about Kashmir, but this magnum opus by Muhammad-ud-din Fouq, the legendary historian of Kashmir has its own importance in view of its canvas and scale. The book encompasses the history of five thousand and eighty-eight years, which has been culled from reliable sources. It can safely be said, that these source books are credible and hence believable. Some of the rare manuscripts have also helped in compilation of this tour de force. The book is divided into three parts-first part deals with Hindu Rule, the second with the Muslim Rule and the final part ends with the Dogra Rule. The original book in Urdu contained the Urdu language of nineteenth century with Persian passages which most of our students and Urdu readers cannot understand now. Hence, there was a dire need to get the book translated into English.
