Book Description
Born on 24th January 1918, Guruji received his primary education in the Vedashastra Vidyalaya of Sangali and Samskrta Pathashala in Ichalkaranji. He studied Vyakarana Shstra in Banaras and in Pune. His teachers were leaned Pandits like Pandit. Lakshmanashastri Joshi Murgudkar, Ganeshshastri Mokate, Hebbarshatri and Swami Kevaiananda. Guruji passed Vyakaranaratna of Badosa, Vyakaranacudamani of Vedashastrottejaka Sabha, Pune, Vyakarnaparangata of Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapith, Pune and Kavyatirtha of Calcutta. After serving as a teacher in a high school in Karad and Pune, Guruji joined the Balamukunda Samskrta Mahavidyalaya, Pune as the Principal in 1947 and after 31 years of his service he retired in 1978. Since then Guruji is engaged in teaching and writing books mainly on Sanskrit grammar.
The present volume is a very small amount of gurudaksina being presented to him by some of his students on the occasion of his 76th birthday. A striking feature of this volume is that most of the contributors are non-Indians. This is significant in so far as it reflects his wide fame reaching different parts of the world. It strikes a sad note that student and scholars of India in general and Maharashtra in Particular have not as much benefitted from him as the western world.
