Preface
You must have heard the adage, 'health is wealth'. We don't realise how important it is to have a healthy body untill we are beset with a health problem. Normally when the body is healthy we take it for granted. Everything else takes precedence. Yet once we fall sick we just can't ignore it. In that moment it becomes an object of prime concern.
A regulated lifestyle, balanced diet and regular exercise is essential to keep our body fit. The situation has become quite alarming specially in cities. These days even the young people are complaining of back pain. Sedentary lifestyle and tight daily schedule are mainly responsible.
Once you are in the grip of back pain it doesn't go easily. During yoga camps organised in parks or in corporate offices I have seen thousands of people suffering from this kind of pain. It's my personal experience that some yogic asanas (postures or exercises) can help tremendously to alleviate pain. For years I nurtured the dream of putting these asanas in a book form so that more and more people can benefit from it.
After extensive research I have prepared an order in which yogic asanas are to be performed. The drill should be followed step by step taking care of the breathing regime and precautions. If it's performed daily it can cure the problem forever. Apart from yogic treatment the book also talks about precautions during the time when you are suffering from back pain, diet and the importance of acupressure that helps in treating back pain.
It is by the grace of God that the book has finally materialised. I was just a medium. My father, Pandit Narendra Goswami, mother, Mrs Lakshmi Devi and Prof. Ishwar Bhardwaj (yoga expert and Prof. & head of the Yoga Department, Gurukul Kangri University Haridwar), were always there and blessed the entire project. My wife, Mrs Anupama Goswami deserves special thanks for her invaluable support. She herself is a yoga expert and is spreading awareness about yoga and health among women by organising camps and workshops. Heart felt thanks to all those who helped directly or indirectly in the publication of this book.
