Book Description

About The Book

In this book, Shreeguru Balaji identifies why a person who wants to change himself is unable to do so, and connects that cause with the discontent that affects all human beings. The fundamental question being answered is, "Who is this self with whom we want to communicate?"He then outlines how to establish such contact and teaches a set of simple practices that will lead to a dialogue between your outer personality and your entity within that opens the doors to both material and spiritual well-being.

Through surprisingly simple analogies, Shreeguru Balaji shows, in terms easy for the layperson, how one can approach the workings of the conscious being and how much we can be in control of the body-brain-self. The journey takes the reader through the elements of this communication, from the benefits of the 'biological language' Sanskrit, to the amazing depth of traditional Yoga practices and why and how music and mantras together deliver messages to unlock your brain's potential.

The best part? You don't need to be an expert at any of these to avail of their benefits. Just follow the SOM Program in the book and you'll be on your way to health, prosperity and contentment.

After more than 30 books in his native Marathi language, 18 albums of healing music that have sold more than a million copies, a daily TV show that has been running for more than 6 years in India and weekly editorials over 10 years in the Sakal newspaper's health supplement 'Family Doctor' that reaches 2 million people with each issue, the need for Shreeguru Balaji Tambe's unique teachings only seems to grow.

Over the decades, Shreeguruji has worked to show the unity and application of ancient Ayurveda, Yoga, astrology, food sciences, music, mythology, and spiritual sciences to develop logic-defying healing systems. He has a very advanced system of pulse-diagnosis and has developed medicines customized according that study. In this manner, he has invented more than two hundred medical formulations, an unprecedented feat in the history of Ayurveda. His Santulan Pancha Karma centre, the Atmasantulana Village in Karla, Maharashtra, has become the gold standard for Ayurvedic healing centres the world over and is one of the best spiritual hideaways of the world.

About The Author

Shri Balaji's family has always been rich in education and culture. At home, under his illustrious father Vedashastra Sampanna' Shri Vasudeo Tambeshastri, Shri Balaji acquired Veda Vidya (Knowledge of the Vedas) and from a very young age displayed the ability to chant and interpret even the most difficult Suktas (Vedic verses). Ayurveda too was imbibed early from the great Vaidyas (Ayurveda masters) of the time who were his father's friends and peers.

Right from childhood, Shri Balaji was interested in picking up different skills. He occupied himself with brick and tile work in his own home. He used his spare time offering spiritual services and sold daily items in the communities of Baroda (today's Vadodara) to gain an experience of interaction in society, apart from some pocket money. The talented Shri Balaji always handled several projects simultaneously and expertly. He yearned to travel to Garudeshwar for regular Upasana (meditation) and Tantra (technologies to attract cosmic energy and convert it into usable mediums), but mainly to offer his services to the Master.

Excelling through school, he was directed towards engineering. While he was Best Shot in his National Cadet Corps batch, he completed his Ayurveda studies and acquired a degree in mechanical engineering as well. This pioneer of modern Ayurveda is also a talented painter with water colours, pencil and Rangoli (coloured stone powders). As an artist, he has travelled to cities creating rangoli exhibitions. He discovered new directions in his art by painting on wooden boards with adhesive, creating permanent rangolis for the first time, which would otherwise not last more than 15 days. In 1959, he presented his work at the Marathi Literature Conference in the city of Miraj. His work elicited praise from the likes of celebrated critics Shri Datto Waman Poddar, Shri Vinda Karandikar and others.

The engineer and technologist Shri Balaji, meanwhile, developed new types of bobbin manufacturing machines at his first job. Later as an inventive businessman he created unique ways of packaging large and high value goods for international shipment, and provided interior design, decoration services, fabrication and industrial furniture in a very successful business.

In addition to all these activities, Shri Balaji was a Cosmology and Field Energies expert with a command over Astrology, Palmistry, Physiometry, Pulse Diagnosis, Vaastu Architecture, the Science of Human Relationships, and Time and Space studies. He gave appointments for consultancy for several years and helped scores of people overcome problems that could not be ordinarily seen or solved. From the time he arrived in Pune he offered initiation to people from different walks of life into Aum Svarupa Dhyan Yoga, and to discuss spiritual ideas and Vedic concepts. The group under the name of Aum Svarupa, came together to study the Shreemad Bhagawad Geeta, the Ramayan and to practice Aum meditation. Shreeguruji would teach people Yoga, Aum Meditation, Astrology, Palmistry and allied subjects. People would come to the sessions for consultation for their life's problems as well. In 1972, when Shri Balaji required Pune University's equipment for research, with the help of Dr. P. S. Damle, he converted Aum Svarupa into a trust under which he could carry out such educational work.

The International Organisation for Art of Living and Healing Music (IROALHM) started by the Balaji Tambe Foundation is affiliated to Pune University and continues to carry out research. Over the years, Shreeguru Balaji's ground-breaking work in Ayurveda and treatment of disease with healing music and light and sound therapy in Pune became well-known.

He supported his Ayurveda pharmacy through his entrepreneurship and philanthropy and delivered life-changing medicines and therapy for free to thousands, especially to those who could not be helped with regular medications. One of the special projects within his Ayurveda practice was gynaecological fitness and guidance for pregnancy and healthy children. This project has now come to be called Garbhasanskar (culturing the child in the womb). With 3,00,000 copies of Ayurvedic Garbhasanskar, his book on the subject, and over a million Garbhasanskar music CDs sold, the project has benefited countless people. Every year a few hundred cases are being recorded to understand the astonishing impact of Garbhasanskar on the development of the child.

The business, the Aum Svarupa group, the Ayurveda practice and healing techniques all continued simultaneously, each as complete and full time practices. Finally, at the request of devotees, through his own hard work, in 1982 Shreeguru Balaji put up the funds to acquire a small piece of land at Karla where his work and spiritual family could be established and this became the Atmasantulana Village.

The Atmasantulana Village today hosts about 150 permanent residents and approximately 60 patients at a time. The daily routine includes Santulan Kriya Yoga, a Santulan Healing Music session and Santulan Om Meditation apart from Santulan therapies.
