This book on "Conservation of Ethnographic Objects", an attempt to make available text book for readers who may have some interest in conservation of cultural heritage especially for the conservation students of all the faculties of the National Museum Institute (A deemed University) and many others from the various museums, Museology and allied Departments of the country and abroad. Ethnography is a vast subject which covers dance and drama as an intangible heritage. The main emphasis is on the activities, life of the early tribes, life style, their art and crafts, customs, festivals describing the human development from individuals to villages, early cities of countries and continents. Conservation of this vast and varied aspect was really a challenging task which could be dealt by the author here which needed a long working experience.

About the Author

A.S. Bisht, Former Chief of Conservation, National Museum, New Delhi is one of the renowned experts in the Field of conservation of cultural heritage with the Museums in India. Having joined the ASI in September, 1954 and the NM in April, 1958 from where he retired in 1991. After retirement has been teaching as a Guest Faculty in NMI, NM, VMH, IGNCA besides some other institutions of the country till this date. After his retirement ten books such as 1. Challenges in conservation of Indian Miniatures, 2. Conservation Science, 3. Aspect of heritage study, 4. Conservation of Indian Miniatures and Illustrated Manuscripts 5. Conservation of wooden object 6. Conservation of Textiles, Bone and Ivory 7. Conservation of Manuscripts 8. Conservation of Ethnographic Objects, which shows his vast experience in the various aspects of heritage conservation in India. He has also edited the Felicitation volume in honour of Dr B B Lal an renowned Conservation Scientist and another in honour of Dr G.N. Pant an eminent Musicologist besides his large number of papers in various national and international Journals.
