Book Description

Preface

This is not a serious book. You will not learn lots of historical facts or gain deep observations from it, rather it is a collection of hilarious experiences from the point of view of an ordinary Bengali housewife's world tour. My hope is that while this book may not gain critical acclaim, it may receive some empathy and laughs!

I would like to fondly acknowledge the tremendous background work and copious amount of proof readings that my friend (and almost like my brother) Mr. Prasad Datta and his daughter Nandini, did for this book. I will not be able to repay their love and dedication! I would also like to give thanks to our Puto, for always being available and helping me with troubleshooting.

This book was initially translated by Ms. Nilanjana Lahiri. I would like to express my appreciation to her for all of her hard work as well. But various adjustment had to be done due to various reasons.

This book was previously printed as the first Bengali Coffee Table Book following the initial printing of an abbreviated Bengali edition. Both were popular with Bengali readers, so I decided to have it translated into English in order to share this collection of stories with a wider readership. This version has been printed by 'Synergy books India' in New Delhi and I am very thankful to its proprietor Mr. Surajit Khurana. He has taken a chance on this and hopefully he will not be disappointed. Mr. Iswar Singh, composer and type setter has taken this difficult work happily. I am thankful to him also. And Last but not the least that photographic work done by Mr. Sandeep Sachdev, my blessings to him.

Best wishes to my future readers and I hope they enjoy reading through my experiences as much as I enjoyed living them.
