South Indian Inscriptions- Volume IX Part 1 (Kannada Inscriptions From The Madras Presidency)

The earlier volumes of South Indian Series, which contain the texts of large number of Kannada, Tamil and Telugu inscriptions have been long out of print and many academic institutions of recent origin keenly feel the absence of these very important volumes in their libraries. It has therefore, been decided to reprint those volumes and make them available to the world of scholars. I am happy that the Vol.IX Part I is being reprinted for the 2nd time now (print in 1939 and first reprint in 1986), which shows the importance of the inscriptions it contains. We have taken up Reprint of the publications which are running out of stock and more in demand, to be followed in quick successions.

I wish to register my thanks to Dr. Rakesh Tewari, Director General, Archaeological Survey of India and Director (Publication) whose abiding interest in the promotion of epigraphical studies has enabled the implementation of this long awaited reprint scheme.
