Foreword
The very origin and existence of the Santhigiri Guru Parampara is founded on the verity of spiritual experiences and revelations. The disciples and truth seekers who are fortunate enough to understand and assimilate the path of Guru vouch for its abiding continuity in their life. The experiences of. the Santhigiri Guru Parampara is unique and defines a new spiritual initiative for the entire humanity.

They are not mere sparks or miracles experienced by some seekers during their 'sadhana' or worship under one system or another. There is the. wondrous plane of spiritual experiences which reveals the presence of God behind the curtain of life.

The formless soul lives and functions through the physical body, so too, God, though invisible, reveals and expresses himself through Guru, his self-same projection. The long line of mahatmas, sages, rishis, prophets and avatars on whose commandments all religions are based, represents this truth. The Will of God and the Light of God are illumined to humanity through the Guru medium. Such a divine medium is far above the tradition that calls out to minor gods and angelic beings for salvation and spiritual protection. This is the philosophical basis of monotheism in India as elsewhere, which seeks to explore the purpose of human life through the visions and revelations made known through the Guru, who represents God, the Creator.

From Buddha and Jesus Christ to Prophet Mohammad and many others in the 20th Century, there were presages about the advent of a Supreme Soul in this age to mark a new phase in spirituality. The Buddha prophesied that a future Buddha would arise in the world more enlightened and compassionate than all others and his name would be Metteyya, meaning the 'Compassionate One' in Pali and 'Karunakara' in Malayalam.

.Sri Narayana Guru wrote the hymn 'Anukamba Dasakam' after seeing such a Guru Embodiment in vision. It begins thus: 'Karunakara! You are the most Compassionate One who would not brook the least hurt to befall even to an ant.'
