RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND MEDICAL STATISTICS IN AYURVEDA is meant for B.A.M.S. students. The book is written strictly as per the syllabus prescribed by Central Council of Indian Medicine for 4th year BAMS curriculum. The book introduces the subject of Research Methodology and Medical Statistics to BAMS students and will help to improve their scientific writing skills to prepare them for postgraduate level. The book is written in simple language with lucid illustrations and solved examples. Text boxes are used to emphasize important topics. Various topics of research methodology are explained with examples from Ayurvedic literature. Tables, graphs, flowcharts and figures have exclusively been used for thorough and better understanding of different topics. Numerous solved examples in the book will help students to get well-versed with the topics of statistics.
The students can self-evaluate the understanding of various topics of the book by solving sample questions provided at the end of each chapter. The book can be a useful reference book for postgraduate Ayurveda scholars too.
Dr. Ankita is a University Gold Medalist in B.A.M.S. degree from Shri Krishna Govt. Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra in 2007. She completed her Masters from National Institute of Ayuveda (NIA) Jaipur in Department of Samhita in 2010. She secured 2nd position in the HPSC merit list for the post of Ayurveda Medical Officer in Govt. of Haryana in 2011. She secured 1st position in JKPSC merit list of Medical Officers in J&K AYUSH Dept. in 2012. Dr. Ankita was deputed as an Asst. Professor in the Department of Samhita & Siddhanta in the newly established only Govt. Ayurvedic Medical College of U.T. of Jammu & Kashmir in 2017.
Dr. Ankita has written more than 24 research and review articles in renowned journals of Ayurveda. She has also authored a book titled 'A Handbook on Philosophy for Ayurveda Scholars'. Dr. Ankita regularly writes articles in one of the renowned newspapers of J&K i.e. Daily Excelsior.
The purpose of ancient Indian System of Medicine, L.e. Ayurveda has always been to keep humans disease free and healthy. The great researches in various fields of life sciences not only bring wonders to human life but also make the life free of miseries and Ayurveda being science of life is no exception to it. Research in the field of Ayurveda is gaining more popularity in modern era. Research methodology and statistics have remained an integral part of the Ayurveda Postgraduate curriculum since its beginning. With the recent introduction of this subject in the final year BAMS curriculum and limited availability of books at Undergraduate level; the author felt the responsibility to provide the students with an exclusive book strictly as per syllabus. The author has tried her best to introduce this subject to the students in the simplest manner; text boxes, special tools such as tables, figures, charts and flow charts have been used for better understanding of the subject. For self assessment and to develop analytical skills in students, sample questions, solved examples and unsolved numerical have been provided at the end of each chapter of the book.
I hope, the aim of writing this book gets fulfilled by imparting quality knowledge to students.
