Book Description
S.S. Misha (1934-1986) was a poet with a distinct voice of his own in the realm of modern Punjabi poetry. His first book Chaurasta, 1961, traces the history of the Punjab that had been a colony for over a thousand years. Besides poems, Misha has composed geets and ghazals. He expanded the thematic range of lyric poetry in Punjabi beyond the traditional love poetry. He has also been called the "master of satire". His mode of satire is an important and impressive aspect of his poetry. He was the poet of a new generation who had the courage to break the bond of the make believe world. He exposed the hollowness of society and politics.
Amrit Lal Paul (b 1953) is a broadcaster by profession and is at present, Station Director, All India Radio, Patiala. He has translated some classics into Punjabi like Jai Shankar Prasad's Titli, K.B. Vaid's Guzra Hua Zamana. He has also written books on Punjabi literature. He was honoured with Punjab State award for his work on sant Ravi Dass.
