Foreword Writing a book about Swami Vivekananda is difficult endeavor, and writing about his music is even more so. This attempt is akin to a kid asking his mother to bring the moon to him, and his mother showing the moon's reflection in a small vessel This book can be considered my humble attempt to learn about Swamiji's musical talent. I have undertaken the endeavor of writing this book under the guidance of my father, Sri Lakshmandas Velankar, who has written and translated hundreds of books. I would like to dedicate this humble pursuit to my parents, Sri Lakshmandas -Velankar and Smt Meera Lakshmandas, Pujya Swami Jitakamanandji, who has encouraged me through the years, and my Guruji, Pt. Vinayak Torsi, a renowned Hindustani Classical vocalist of India. I am grateful to Swami Sarvasthanandji (Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Ashram, and Rajkot) for his blessings. I thank the esteemed faculty and team from Jain University, where I'm also pursuing my Ph.D., for inspiring me in this endeavor in so many ways.
