Educated in Sri Lanka, India and the United States, where he dabbled in Engineering. Journalism. English and International Affairs. S.Muthiah finally settled for a career in Journalism. After nearly two decades as a senior journalist with the Times of Ceylon group, he returned to Madras and was in printing and publishing for nearly 25 years. He is now a freelance journalist, editor of Madras Musings, and a columnist for The Hindu, but still finds time for writing books (about 40 of them at last count), teaching, reading, the pursuit of History, and taking an enthusiast's watching interest in the Arts and Sport. Asa student. author. editor and journalist. he has been wedded for over 80 years to the English language as written and spoken in South Asia in all its various nuances.
