कथालक्षणम्: The Art of Philosophical Debate

Kathalaksana describes the art of Philosophical debate. This debate is of three types’ viz., vada, jalpa and vitanda. The debate that is undertaken to discover the truth is vada. That which is undertaken for acquiring fame or wealth is jalpa. The debate that is undertaken for demolishing the others view point without any interest to defend his own position is vitanda. These three are discussed in this book. The procedure of the debate, the qualifications of the presiding scholar over the debate etc. are described in detail. These are applied to the judiciary debate also. A study of these will help to understand the philosophical topics which are argued for and. against. It is hoped that it will be helpful to the students and research scholars. The points covered in this text are briefly present in the English introduction.
