Book Description
It is gratifying to note that the Government of India and the State Governments, through Universities and other learned bodies, are rendering special assistance and equipment for research about our country and its languages. Some enlightened private organisations are also doing this work. In Karnataka particularly, the Universities and a few learned bodies are providing increasingly the atmosphere required for conducting research on various aspects of Karnataka, namely language, literature, history, culture and so on. Among the researchers there are students, teachers and scholars who in the pursuit of knowledge are contributing to the widen ing of the horizon of knowledge. These researchers in all the aspects of Karnataka culture are found both in our State, in India, and even abroad. If we have to benefit by their studies and research, we require necessary bibliographical tools from time to time. It is only now a few bibliographies in Kannada have been published Many more have yet to be prepared and published. It is well known that many studies and researches relating to the land and language of Karnataka are being pursued both in Karnataka and outside for over a century. Many results of such studies and research have been published in well known scholarly English Journals, Felicitation and Commemoration volumes. Even now the publications are going on. Most of these learned Journals, Felicitation and Commemoration volumes have appeared from Mysore, Bangalore, Bombay.. Poona, Calcutta, Banaras and other cities. These publications contain primary, secondary and other source material for the study of Karnataka history and culture.. If in some cases they form a part of South Indian and Dravidian studies, in others they are independent. Such writings of immense value are mixed up with other. subjects and would be of great advantage if such papers pertaining to Karnataka are selected and published This is complementary to the bibliographical works in Kannada.
