Book Description
The Vrindaban Research Institute, since its very inception in 1968 has been the medium of protection and propagation of Braja Culture. It has acquired about 30000+Manuscripts of Sanskrit, Hindi, Bangali, Punjabi, Gujrati, Orea and Persian scripts; and is a host of archival material and important historical documents. Experiencing the need of preservation and protection of cultural material of Braja, the institute has already had an accessory building erected very recently, still to be finished and furnished by the financial aid of Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The Institute has already published five parts of the Catalogue of Sanskrit Manu- scripts, in the year 1976, 1978, 1981, 1985 and 1991 respectively; within this period two Catalogues of Hindi Manuscripts one of Bengali manuscripts and one of Punjabi Mss. and one Catalogue of Manuscripts microfilmed in V.R.I. have already been published. The Manuscript of the next Catalogue of Mss microfilmed is ready for press.
It bestows upon us a fair solace to present the VI part of A Catalogue of Sanskrit Manuscripts in V.R.I. before the scholars after a fair long gap due to different fair causes; the main has been the unavailability of a chief Cataloguer. It is an art of expressing substantially maximum in minimum words. The VI part of Catalogue of Sanskrit Manuscripts conforms to the statutory layout adopted in the V part. To the 16830 entries of the manuscripts listed in parts I-V, 3008 more entries have been added. And thus the serial no. has come upto 19838.
