Book Description

Preface

This novel is the English translation of Eeshaan Mahesh's spiritual novel 'Jana tha Ganga paar'. The novel was originally written in Hindi. The story of this novel is based on the notable legendary episode of Lord Rama and Kevata, the boatman.

The sequence of the story says that Lord Rama along with his wife, Sita and his younger brother, Lakshamana were proceeding towards the forests to fulfill their vow of banishment. There, to cross the river Ganges, they happened to board a boat of a boatman named Kevata. His exceptional character made the whole episode dramatic and mysterious.

When after crossing the river, Lord Rama asked the boatman about the fare that has to be paid for the ride, Kevata, the boatman, simply asks Rama to do the same when he, after his death comes to Rama's Ghat, the final doorstep, then he must take him across that.

This novel has peeped into the mystery of the statement given by Kevata. How could he recognize the fact that Rama was the incarnation of the ultimate; though many sages of that time only recognized Rama as a loyal Prince of King of Ayodhya. Only the seven divine sages considered Rama as incarnation of God.
