Preface

The ear is a marvelously complex and sensitive organ. Unfortunately, damage to the organ, whether through disease, physical insult, long term exposure to excessive noise or simply the effects of aging, can cause the ear to malfunction. The result of malfunction is usually to produce some degree of deafness.

The present work is an attempt to approach a patient of deafness and laws governing such condition in India.

It is indeed a proud privilege of mine to greatly acknowledge my indebtness to Prof. Rajesh kumar Professor, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, who with his extra ordinary patience, magnanimous personality guided me. I am highly indebted for his guidance, co-operation and constant moral support to accomplish this work successfully.
