Book Description

Foreword

Mahaprabhu Sri Chaitanya is worshipped as the propounder of the school of Acintya Bhedabheda or Identity-in -difference, the nature of which is essentially indescribable and unthinkable power of God. He established the path of Mahaprema- Mandbhakti to reach the highest goal of human life. His Life and Philosophy connote the ideology of universal love, peace and brotherhood. The union with Absolute Reality encourages the devotees and strengthens their self-confidence to emerge as perfect human being on the surface of the earth.

It goes without saying that at a time, when the people are slowly replacing the philosophy of love and respect by the dreaded domain of hatred and violence in the contemporary world; the promotion of Sri Chaitanya's Philosophy has assumed unprecedented importance. Keeping this in view, the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha under the Centre of Excellence Programme has made this humble attempt to bring out a reliable document on Life and Philosophy of Mahaprabhu Sri Chaitanya. It is encouraging to note that this book is going to be published by the Odisha Chair of the Vidyapeetha, a Chair that was established nearly one and half decades ago to conduct research on Sri Jagannath Culture, Sri Jayadeva' s Gitagovinda and Sri Chaitanya's Philosophy under the patronage of the late Dr.J.B.Patnaik ji, the then Chief Minister, Odisha and Prof. Harekrishna Satapathy, the then Vice-Chancellor of RSVP. I am sure, this will be considered as one of the best and befitting contributions of Odisha Chair to the world of scholars in view of the vision and mission of the Chair.

While congratulating Prof (Dr.) V.Purandara Reddy, Dr. Niranjan Mishra, scholars, Dept. of Adwita Philosophy and Vedabhashyam and Dr. Dinabandhu Maharana for making sincere efforts to prepare and bring out this pictorial presentation, I thank all associated with Odisha Chair and wish the publication a success.
