I congratulate Mrs. Leela the author of a number of books on Indian Music, on her latest book written for the benefit to Music students appearing for the XI Standard Examination. She has ably covered both the theoretical and practical portions of the Syllabus for the First year.

Her explanations of musical terms like Nada, Sruti, etc. are lucid. The alankaras given in the degrees of speed with appropriate tala markings will be of help to the beginners.

I am sure that the students will find the book very useful.

This book is intended for the students, who are appearing for the Higher Grade Examination in Karnatic Music. The Theory and Practical are given according to the syllabus. The figures of the Musical Instruments and the Suddha Sahitya of the songs will enable the students to understand them easily. Music lovers also can get a benefit by going through this book.
