This concise book has been devised by Pilgrims Publications as an introduction to Ayurveda, produced in an easy-to-understand format. It gives a brief insight into the wide-ranging subject of Ayurveda. It is in no way a complete analysis of the subject. It is not concerned with the minute detail, or the complex and often confusing diagnosis and treatment of specific diseases that Ayurveda involves. It seeks to unravel some of the more basic ideas of Ayurveda and to delve into the more general topics within the subject. We leave it to students to refer to more specific books about the subject. Some are mentioned in the bibliography at the back of this book.
