Preface

''Necessity is the mother of invention." The Indian Council of Astrological Sciences has precribed a syllabus for the two years astrological course conducted by them at different chapters. Delineation and Dynamic Configuration (dealt with by me in a separate book) judgement of Bhavas, interpretation of dasa and Timing of Events are the topic included therein. As a teacher I had to explain these topics. Therefore a need was felt to bring out subtle guide lines on Judgement of different bhavas of a horoscope. A particular bhava will be giving good or bad results or will be in a position to give the results expected from that bhava or not. One method is to ascertian the strength of bhavas and planets through mathematical calculations known as 'Shadbala' while another method is to estimate the strength of the bhava 'on the basis of the position of (i) Bhava (ii) Lord of the bhava (iii) Karaka for of the bhava. A proper study of the horoscope is the primary requisite to find out the 'Prarabdha' (Promises in the birth chart) of a native. I am teaching astrology since 1987.

The thirst ofthe students could not be quenched by the books on "Judgement of a bhava" which are available in the market. The constant need to explain these topics made me prepare my own notes. The students expected me to dicate class notes. I am always of the opinion that students must listen to the lecture carefully and prepare their own notes at home, otherwise they will not be attentive in the class and will miss some important points while taking the dictation.

On great demand of my friends and students and with the grace of God, I am giving my views to the readers.

With the grace of Almighty God, whatever I could learn from my friends and students during discussions on astrological topics are reproduced in this book. The first two chapters contain dicussions on judgement of bhavas, Chapter 3 shows use of Divisional Charts and Yogas Chapter 4 is on discussion and peculiarities of Vimshottari dasa, fructification of results while Chapter 5 is on the effects of Retrograde Planets. After reading this chapter, the readers can understand that Retrograde planet is a strong planet which can impress more. Chapter 6 to 12 show how to find the results expected during the dasa periods of the planets; Chapter 13 is on the use of nakshatras. Chapter-14 describes Timing of Events while Chapter 15 shows the views of Sage Parashara on the Mahadasa and Antardasa results of various planets. The commentaries from various classical texts have been taken. In Saravali the Mahadasha/ Antardasha results have been explained in Mooldasa, but the same results have been taken by me as applicable to Vimshottari dasa also. I have restricted my pen and have not given many examples due to paucity of space. I will request the readers to test these principles on the data available with them.
