Book Description

Preface

In 1973, on my requisition Sri K. Sankaran, Mylapore, translated Kamadhenu form its English version into Tamil and Smt. Janaky Raghavan and Smt. Rajam Venkatachalam, Mettur Dam, helped him in his work. The work was completed in 1974.

Then I tried to get it published so as to make it useful to the Tamil knowing people, desirous to learn Sanskrit at home. I approached the Government of India for financial assistance in 1975. In 1980 the application was considered by the Government and 60% of the total expenditure was sanctioned.

The next problem was its printing. No convenient press is available in Kerala for Tamil printing. How to get it printed? The problem made me more confused. I approached the Southern Languages Book Trust, Madras and the Director compiled with my request of publication. Dr. S. S. Janaki, exercised her profound knowledge in Sanskrit and Tamil in editing the manuscript and proof reading. By god’s grace Sri V. T. Rajan, owners of the Ramani Brothers Printers, and a very devoted person, consented to undertake the task of printing the book.

The production of the book was no easy task and there were many problems to be faced and solved. Hewever, I must express my deep gratitude and appreciation of the understanding and financial help rendered by the Government in this venture of mine which has ended in success. Another fact to be particularly mentioned is that in bringing out this book I had the help of some good hearted persons. I express my heartfelt feeling of gratitude to Sri K. Sankaran, Smt. Janaky Raghavan, Smt. Rajam Venkatachalam, Dr. S. S. Janaki, M/s Ramani Brothers and Sri G. V. Seturambaba, Bombay, who encouraged me to embark on this venture and helped to its completeness. My gratitude is also specially due to the Sothern Languages Book Trust, Madras for publishing this book against all add helping me to realise the ambition of publishing this book.
