Introduction

An experience of the mind (Psyche) is a Psychic experience. An experience of the Spirit or the soul is a Spiritual Experience. An experience triggered off by Meditation is a Meditational Experience. This can occur during Meditation or during sleep or even at the wakeful state of a person.

Meditation activates several silent processes. It heightens our sensitivity and expands our awareness. And so, a Meditator comes across new experiences. But not all Meditators have experiences. Some may not have any. It does not matter because these experiences do not measure the Spiritual progress which is essentially the Transformation from the human to the Divine. Why is it that some have experiences and some do not have is yet to be understood clearly. Amara used to say "If you have an experience it is good. If you do not have any experience it is better!" We may seek more experiences and may get stuck at a stage enjoying the experiences and not moving ahead spiritually.

But, then, why is any importance given to experiences at all? It is because they are beneficial in their own ways. Sometimes, they carry messages from the higher planes. Some may forewarn us about the impending dangers. Some may reveal a bit of our past or our future. Some may simply give us thrills. Whatever the category, they fascinate us. They inspire and educate us. Reading and going through the experiences, even if they are not ours, themselves create beneficial Spiritual effects that help our Spiritual progress.

There are different types of experiences. Visions, seeing lights and hearing sounds occur at the level of the mind. Experiencing Bliss, Infinity or Oneness occur at the level of the soul. Travelling in Space or Time occurs at the Astral level. All these are Meditational Experiences. All the Meditational Experiences in this book were experienced by our Meditators in the Path of the Sapta Rishis, These experiences that were brought to our notice were published in our monthly Newsletter. There are thousands that are not reported.

Introduction

Maharshi Amara had said that if a Meditator has Meditational experiences it is good, if not it is even better. Then what is the need to note, explore and understand the extra-sensory experiences? Why look into visions and messages which cannot be verified by rigorous scientific methodology? How can one be sure that a Meditational Experience is not something projected by our own Mind? How can we distil the real from the surreal? Are experiences an unnecessary distraction or helpful to a Meditator? Clairvoyance, clairaudience, Astral Travel, sixth sense, deja vu, other psychic abilities - are these required to be Spiritual? This book humbly attempts to answer these questions.

The first section of the book begins with the journey of our Soul and the Creation in which the Soul's existence plays out. The structure of the human system, through which the Soul acts and experiences, comprising of the psycho-spiritual-physical components is briefly explained. In the next chapter, definitions of various psycho-spiritual capacities ana phenomenon are detailed. In the following chapter different types of experiences are discussed. The chapter looks at how we can activate our faculties of higher perception.

The second half of the book gives real-life experiences of Meditators, grouped under broad categories. The names of those who contributed their experiences are listed at the end of the book rather than being mentioned along with their experiences. This is because Guruji Krishnananda has taught that one person's genuine experience belongs to everyone; instead of personalizing it as a triumph we can share and collectively attempt to understand the unseen worlds. Another reason is to keep any likely ego inflation at bay. The intent is neither to create groups of haves and have-nots nor to exalt those who have active faculties.

Most of the contributors are Meditators. They are a cross-section of our contemporary human world cutting across various socio-economic groups. Software engineers, banking professionals, entrepreneurs, accountants, teachers, homemakers, students, senior citizens, the everyday people of our world have shared their experiences printed in this book. For many the Knowledge presented in this book will not be new but for a Spiritual aspirant, a Spiritual Scientist, the curious and for an explorer of human paranormal potential, there are many answers.

And as is with any field of research, every answer spawns many questions. No topic can be addressed completely in one book that is not the attempt either. The Knowledge and experiences presented here take us one step forward in our endless journey of understanding God's Creation. Any point understood so far can be further refined. From a distance when we see a mountain we see just that, a mountain. But as we go closer we see the trees, boulders and other details on the mountain. Existing Knowledge can be sharpened in the light of new Knowledge.

Lastly, I request the reader to keep this important Guidance point given by Amara, and heavily emphasized by Guruji Krishnananda, while reading the book - Experiences DO NOT indicate one's Spiritual progress.
