Book Description

About the Book

Dr Dorothy Shepherd had wide experience both in clinics of Harley Street and in the poorer parts of London.

Although she had leanings towards homoeopathy during her student years, it was not until she visited Dr J.T. Kent in U.S.A., and experienced great benefit from this therapy that she fully adopted this method of treatment in her practice. Having embarked upon a career as a homoeopath, she studied the subject deeply and the more she learned the more she became convinced that it is the finest method of dealing with every type of ailment.

Being a true healer she believed that every sufferer should ‘know of homoeopathy and in order to make it more widely known she began writing a much acclaimed series of books, the best known of which is Magic of the Minimum Dose and "this book, More Magic of the Minimum Dose.

Foreword

In revising Dr. Dorothy Shepherd’s book, I have been constantly reminded of her complete dedication to the art and science of Homoeopathy which she knew to be a medicine of greater curative value than that of the allopathic school in which she was originally trained.

Her practice was a large one, and she drew patients to her from all walks of life, thus her experience in the cure of disease whether acute or chronic covered a wide field. Some of the chapters in this book are her personal experience, and all others are actual cases treated homoeopathically by Dr. Shepherd herself, either privately or in one of the clinics she regularly attended.

Few homoeopathic doctors make time to record the history of the varied cases of disease they deal with, thereby denying the lay public knowledge of the principles and practices of this art of medical treatment. Indeed many people even today are unaware that these safer ways to deal with the sickness and frailty of the human being are existent.

In a world that appears to be increasingly materialistic, the symptoms of ill health are correspondingly complex. The need for medicines that will deal with the mental and emotional states of life and safely restore the disturbed balances, recreating a sense of harmony and well being, becomes more and more an urgent necessity. Homoeopathy can and does fill this need.

Dorothy Shepherd always felt that much of the future of Homoeopathy lay in the hands of the ordinary man-in- the-street. By his demand for safer alternative medication in his time of need, when hope was well nigh lost, the homoeopathic art would be kept alive by those doctors and intelligent lay practitioners who truly sought to heal the sick. This book, once more brought before the intelligent reader, wil, I hope, do much towards this end. If only more perceptive doctors are drawn to make a study of this great science, Dr. Shepherd’s life and work will not have been in vain.

Her knowledge and wisdom of all aspects of life has been generously shared through her writings over the years, and those readers who have collected her published works will rejoice to know that there are still fragments being gathered together for future publication which will bring further knowledge to those who faithfully follow the homoeopathic path.
