Our English Reader (Stage-5)

This is a new set of graded English Readers. They have been carefully written after consulting the English syllabuses for schools all over India.

Simple words and short sentences have been chosen in the beginning. The standard has been raised very gradually. Care has been taken to see that the language used is easy, flowing and idiomatic. Interesting stories and poems have been chosen with a view to build the character of the young students. The subjects of the other lessons have been taken from the familiar surroundings of a child.

The plays, wherever incorporated, are all suited to the school stage. The students can act them even in the class rooms.

Pictures have been given with a view to dramatize the text and to make the subject matter easy to understand.

Special care has been taken to see that the background of the books is Indian so that an average Indian child does not find anything strange or unfamiliar.

A list of new words introduced in a lesson has been given at the beginning up to the fifth reader. The exercises at the end of each lesson will help the child to comprehend the text fully.
