I feel very happy to write foreword of this book named Principles and Treatments of Ayurveda written by Dr. Swami Nath Mishra Ph.D. (Ay)

Ayurveda is the science of life which means it deals with every part of life including protection of health and cure of disease. Ayurvedic treatment is a pure treatment because it cures without creating any side effects.

This book is in two parts. The first part, describes the Principles of Ayurveda with references in a very simple way. The second part of the book, deals with diagnostic methods and treatment of common diseases. Dr. Swami Nath Mishra is an experienced Ayurvedic physician. He has included his experienced method of treatment like-single drug therapy, compound drug therapy, diet therapy and panchkarma therapy on the basis of ancient classical books.

I believe that this book will be very useful for those who are looking forward, learning and want to apply Ayurveda in their life. This book will also be helpful for ayurvedic students and medical practitioners. I hope that this book will be accepted by all.

Introduction

Ayurveda is a science by which life can be understood is its totality but ayurveda is also a system of medicine and its role in modern society is to complement and support the medical system. Compared to modern medical art that deals mainly with diseases and treatment of them when symptoms of diseases appears, Ayurveda defines health and the mechanism of diseases with more "archaic" parameters in the sense that identify the root cause and the early signs and symptoms of diseases.

Ayurveda in addition to treating diseases devotes much attention to the conservation and protection of health and to prevention of diseases. Among the Ayurvedic remedies we can find medicines to cure the disease, but also preparations and substances for protecting, maintaining and enhancing the state of good health.

People often experience symptoms of malaise that are taken into little account and have no feedback from clinical analysis showing no abnormalities, modern medicine does not have tools to treat diseases in this phase that precede the onset of illness. This is exactly the time when Ayurveda has its part.

The observation of even mild symptoms, indicates to Ayurveda experts the imbalance of the main vital systems the nervous, metabolic and immune systems. After the identification of the symptom and its cause, measures are taken to restore the balance from the earliest stages of manifestation of diseases and avoid, with the removal of the cause, the occurrence of illness.
