Book Description

About the Book
The book, the 'Rysh Wa'er' is a state of Ryshis of Kashmir. It visualizes a state that is abode of the Ryshis, Munis and Pirs. It is a state of 'virtuous' citizens. The state is an idealist state and it is based on the philosophy of Sheikh Noor-ud-din (RA), patron saint of Kashmir. The text is written from a comtemporary point of view, for the students of Kashmirology and the students of Political Science. The book can only assist the readers in a more adequate appreciation of past traditions that gives us better insight into the present day Kashmir. The evaluation of the various political systems have been made as an objective as possible in the belief that the reader gains most when he is allowed to think for himself, not when he is exposed to conceived ideas.

The book is divided in Six Chapters. The first deals with Kashmir Sufism and Ryshi movement and their bearing on the Sheikh's intellectual evolution. The second is a comparative study of 'Vandar Raj' and state of nature as enunciated by the Ryshi and Hobbes. The next section analytically finds and elaborates the correspondencies and dissimilarities between the theories of Locke, Rousseau and that of the Sheikh. In fourth chapter Kashmir is designed to be the valley of God in due regard to the spiritual ethos of it during last five thousand years of its history. The concept of Sheikh's 'Rysh Wa'er' is delineated and discussed within the framework of the modern definition of a state. Finally, in its 'Posterior' an appraisal of religious humanism or 'Rysh Wa'er' envisaged by the Sheikh is examined.
