Book Description

About The Book

Usually, spiritual wisdom is taken to be the crowning outcome of prolonged meditative and contemplative austerities pursued in ascetic environments. But, Yogavasistha discusses spiritual wisdom in its functional level, especially as related to the interactional life of a King or Administrator.

Sage Vasistha makes it clear that when the Guru speaks to his disciple, what transpires is not merely a verbal exchange. The close interaction transmits a wholesome spiritual radiance, inspiration and enlightenment. Association with the Wise holds the great magic and wonder of spiritual realization.

If a seeker can dive in the discussions forgoing all preconceived notions, he will surely get an experiential touch of what spiritual knowledge and freedom mean.

About the Author

Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha, a knower of Supreme Truth, has guided numerous seekers to the invaluable goal of Self-realization, transforming their life into one of joy and contentment.

Swamiji's interpretation of Bhagavadgita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Upanishads and other spiritual texts, coming from his experiential depth and mastery of Self-Realization, inspires seekers with the liberating touch of transcendental knowledge.

Receiving diksha (spiritual initiation) from Baba Gangadhara Paramahamsa of Dakshinkhanda, West Bengal, Swamiji embraced Sannyasa at the age of 23. Dedicating his life for the welfare of mankind, he has been disseminating with rare clarity, practicality and openness, spiritual wisdom of Vedanta, to the seekers all over the world for the past 60 years.

Preface

Yogavasistha Ramayana is a book on the mind. Based on the 18-day morning-to-evening dialogue that transpired between Sri Rama and Sage Vasistha in the palace of Ayodhya, the Text in its 32000 verses, discusses the travails of the mind and their redress through spiritual wisdom.

Normally spiritual wisdom is taken to be the crowning outcome of prolonged meditative and contemplative austerities pursued in ascetic environments. But, Yogavasistha discusses spiritual wisdom in its functional level, especially as related to the interactional life of a King or Administrator.

All the confusions and torments surface when the mind interacts with the world. Throughout the text, the treatment suggested is to make the mind reflect upon the universal and transcendental dimensions of the Soul- one's real Identity. The process results in enlightenment, generating inner sufficiency, expansion and poise.

Poojya Swamiji's first book on Yogavasistha Ramayana was "Quietitude of the Mind", based on the 5th Prakarana (section) called "Upasama Prakarana". The book helped many seekers and troubled souls in various parts of the world. On repeated requests from seekers and disciples, Poojya Swamiji started writing "Science of Inner Redemption" - a commentary on selected verses from the Nirvana Prakarana (the last section of the Text) in our monthly magazine "Vicharasethu". Eighteen articles from this series were published in the first volume, and eighteen more are included in the present volume. The series still continues in Vicharasethu.
