About the Book Siddhanta Kaumudi is a celebrated Sanskrit commentary by Bhattoji Diksita (early 17th century) on the Astadhyayi and is believed to be more popular than Panini's work. It re-arranges the sutras of Panini under appropriate heads and offers exposition that is orderly and easy to follow.

The sutras are arranged in two parts- the first part deals with the rules of interpretation, sandhis, declensions, formation of feminines, case endings, compounds, secondary derivations and the second part with conjugation, primary suffixes, Vedic grammar and accents.

The present edition of Siddhanta Kaumudi in two volumes is its first ever complete English translation by Stiga Candra Vasu along with various notes at suitable places. The editor of the present book has further corrected the printing errors in the previous editions of this book. The entire book has been re-composed and enlarged with easily readable text and translation. This book will surely fulfill the long awaiting demand of Sanskrit scholars and learners for an improved edition of Siddhanta Kaumudi of Bhattoji Diksita with English meanings.
