I am happy to place the prosent volume (Soch Indian Icription Volume XXIX) odded by Prof 7X Nahumathy Masya in the hands of scholars This type of editing of S11 volumes by non-departmental scholen as the rout of initiation by DETS Ravbankat, former Director (Epigraphy) It with a view to bringing out the unpublbol muteriak to light I am extremely happy to record that amide mury academic agmen his personal health problems and preoccupations he could complete this volume. My thanks are abo due to De TSRavishankar, former Director dipigraphy) Ic, who during hix temure sook intisive to asign the job of editing to non departmental scholars with a view to bring out vast epigraphical muserial to light In fact, this volume was to come number XLII in series Now it has come out as volume Na XXIX Here, I feel there is a need for clarification regarding the volume number. In the earlier stages volume number was alloted while asigning the editing work Some volumes saw the light of the day quickly but some could not be completed at all As such, when the publications came out there was some pup in continuation. As such, there was pap of Volume Na XXIX and further volumes were printed. Therefore, to bridge the gap this volume has been assigned number XXIX. My thanks are due to Dr. S Nagarajappa, ASH. and Dr. RV. Anilkumar, Al who have done a commendable job in overseeing composing work proof correction and all that was needed to give the volume its proent shape. Ms The jewini Streedevi Al has abo contributed in proof correction. Services of Ms. P. Lakshmi and Ms Jayalakshmi, Duta Operators are worth recording here, who have composed the whole volume and carried out the corrections in a very professional manner in record time. I also thank Sri G. Srinivasa Rao, Sr. Photographer of this office who has shouldered the responsibility of final formatting and preparing laer print for the press and Sri Vasanth Kumar. Photographer Gell for preparing hustration for this publication. I thank the Manager and his colleagues of Tamil Nadu Government Press Chennai for neatly printing and bringing out this volume on time.
