Srila Prabhupada - A Messenger from Vaikuntha

Srila Bhakti-Siddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Prabhupad (1874-1937) grew up in Calcutta in the social milieu of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Rabindranath Tagore, Shyamaprasad Mukherjee to name a few. Instead of pursuing a lucrative career, he devoted his life to the service of Lord Krishna and revived the birthplace of Lord Sri Chaitanya in Mayapur - one of the world's most visited pilgrimages. Admired by Madan Mohan Malavya and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, he intro duced the power of Hare Krishna Mahamantra to millions. Through the Gaudiya Mission, he established the first Sanatan Dharma temple in Europe and initiated people into Vaish navism as early as the 1930s in the United Kingdom, France, Germany to the west and in Burma to the east. Rajas and Maharajas across the Princely States of India and the British Government rallied behind him to support the cause of reviv ing the Sanatan Dharma. This book gives glimpses of the extraordinary life of Srila Prabhupad that became the epicentre of the global Hare Krishna movement.

Dhritabrata Bhattacharjya Tato holds a MA in French Literature from Calcutta University, India and MPhil in Cultural Studies from Univer sité de Paris - Sorbonne Nouvelle, France. Besides contributing to premier newspapers and magazines, Tato has several books to his credit on history, art and spirituality. A Fellow of the Ministry of Culture, Government of France, he has curated exhibitions in Europe, India and South Korea.
