PREFACE

I have been studying Astrology for the last nine years and I'm fully convinced that Astrology is a Science of Time. Ofcourse there are some subtle aspects, as it deals with the course of terrestrial life and the role of destiny in it. In the following pages I have tried to clarify certain such issues like the role of destiny in our life, fate & free will etc. These fundamental aspects are the contents of Chapter 1.

Chapter 2 deals with a controversy that has been plagueing Astrology since time immemorial i.e the Vexed question of ayanamsa. Modern astronomy even today is not able to throw much light on this phenomenon. Two theories have been presented. The first one is based on the harmonious regressions of Nodes and the Equinoxes -a novel idea even to the field of Astronomy. A second, but a more general theory of the precession of equinoxes has been derived based on the 'Cycle of Yugas' available in Hindu Puranas. It leaves no doubt that the ancient Rishis were fully aware of the precession of equinoxes and its important bearing upon the terrestrial life. It clearly illustrate that the ancient Hindu wisdom was far more superior than that of any other cultures in the world. No other proof is required for the fact that Indian Astronomy and Astrology are not borrowed from else where like Babylon or Egypt.

Vedic knowledge has enabled a poor astrologer to provide a theory of precession to modern Astronomers. Intuitively or through observations, ancient Rishis discovered that general conjunctions of planets take place at fixed intervals of time with reference to the vernal equinox point. Also they recognized that the vernal equinox point of the above epochs and the nodes of Moon were two fundamental co-ordinates of the "luni-solar-geo" space-time and its orientation with respect to the galaxy. A mathematical zodiac and the 'Cycle of Yugas' were developed on that basis. But with the passage of time the above two ideas got separated-the knowledge about precession of the equinoxes was completely lost. Through this book humanity will be regaining that lost wisdom. This ancient wisdom makes much of the literature written about Vedic astronomy obsolete.

This new concept of the precession of the equinoxes and the values of 'ayanamsa' are of vedic origin. This concept clearly establishes that the zero precessional year was A.D. 238 and not A.D. 285 as suggested by the calendar reforms committee headed by Shri N.C. Lahiri. The theory calls upon all concerned to constitute another calendar reforms committee so that the true value of A.D. 238 can be adopted for the Indian Astronomical Ephemeris. It is equally applicable to the various 'Panchanga' makers in our country. Sidereal (nirayana) astrology all over the world will have to accept these new ayanamsa values. These values will also make the foundations of astrological research much stronger. In Chapter 3, the controversial issue viz the status of Astrology as a Science is discussed using ideas of modern physics. In Chapter 4, an attempt has been made to dem-onstrate the role of horoscope as the "Dispenser of Desti-ny." Unfoldment of the lives of two geniuses Viz. Albert Einstein & Charles Chaplin in unison (perfect correlation) with the horoscope proves the point remarkably well. I hope these ideas will inspire others to have a serious look at the subject.
