Book Description

Preface
Vayustuti is a classical poem on Vayudeva, the one who sustains the force of life, composed around 800 years ago, by Sri Trivikrama Panditacharya. Kantara Rama's commentary on this poem, largely unknown in contemporary academic circles, is being published along with Vayustuti in this book.

Trivikrama Panditacharya, is one of the direct disciples of Sri Anandatirtha, also known as Sri Madhavacarya, the celebrated Vedantic philosopher of the 13th century CE. Sri Madhavacarya is credited with the revival of dualist interpretation of the Vedas. He declared himself as the third incarnation of Vayu; with Hanuman being the first and Bhima sena, the second. Hence, Vayustuti, un-like any other classical poem on Vayu, is a composition of a direct disciple extolling his teacher, and therefore assumes a greater significance. In this short poem of 41 verses, Trivikrama Pandita describes many divine functions of Vayudeva, while also summarising a few important events in the lives of Hanuman, Bhima and Acarya Madhya.
