Lord Vishnu has been worshipped by numerous great devotees from all over India, who had reached a saintly status. The twelve devotees, known as Azhwars, from Tamil Nadu, were believed to be the incarnations of the various aspects of the Lord. For the Azhwars the devotion to their Lord was the very breath of their great poetry, compiled together as Nalayira Divyaprabandam, stands as a testimony of their unflinching faith.
The stories of the Azhwars have been part of the literary and philosophical feed that many of the Tamil people have lived and grown up on. These have been rendered in this volume in simple language by lakshmi Venkatraman, accompanied by the beautiful illustrations by Lalitha Thyagarajan.
