Preface

‘A Glimpse of Rabindranath's India' is the present study to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of the greatest poet of India, Rabindranath Tagore. This study combines the contributions of Rabindranath in the field of literature, emancipation of Indian identity in the intellectual area of the world and also the belief of the poet in Indian heritage and tradition. From the very childhood he learned ancient Indian literature including of religious one. Like his contemporaries Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo the Upanishad is the core of his philosophical understandings. The study includes the thought process of Rabindranath Tagore and his passion with his motherland India. The secondary sources are also used here to determine the interrelationship between Tagore,India and his contemporaries.

My book on the same subject was published in Bengali recently in last January. The interested readers of that Bengali edition requested me to prepare it also for English. But the work cannot be completed without regular reminders from my beloved printer Arabinda Metia. So I want to present this current piece of work to Arabinda only.I am indebted to my family for imparting me a constant support.

It is now at your end and I will be grateful to all my readers if you evaluate the quality of effort with proper feedback.
