Book Description
This book is a new inclusion to the Sahitva Akademi's Histories of Literature series. It is all the more important in its way as Bodo now is a recognized Indian language. The book commences with a valuable introduction on the Bodos which traces the origin, migration and settlement of the race and throws light on their religion and culture. This introduction beyond doubt would be a key to a more intense understanding of the line through which Bodo literature has come along. Starting from the Bibar-Alongbar era and the past even beyond that, the history delineates the run of Bodo literature till the contemporary scene and in doing so it investigates across several genres.
Anil Kumar Boro is a well-known Bodo scholar and writer, both of verse and prose. He is a Faculty Member in the Department of Folklore Research, Gauhati University.
