Foreword

The academics ordered why astrology needs to find a place at university. After all, it shows no interest in being linked to fiends of science (not to biology, not to psychology, not to statistics, not even to astronomy, or the humanities or the social sciences). The "Think Tank", dismissing astrology as 'nonsense' and not be taken seriously, felt that astrology needs to gain academic credentials in order to be taken seriously.

This work "Vedic Astrology (Vedanga) Reintegrated into Astronomy, Astrophysics and Astrobiology", is designed by the Author or bring out the ancient wisdom of scientific rationale of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Astrobiology in the genesis of the principles of Vedic Astrology (Vedanga) to silence the critics of 'Think Tank' and to liberate the subject from the attacks gratuitously levelled against it by educated unbelievers and to lift it, on the other, from the depths into which it has fallen by elevating it as an unchallengeable science.

It is also most gratifying to learn that another equally important work titled "Vedic Astrology (Vedanga) in the Quest of Origin of Life, Evolution and Liberation" by the same author is in the press and would soon be released. Origin of prebiotic life on the primordial earth about 4.5 billion years ago has been subject matter of challenge for research where scientists acknowledge the difficulty rather impossibility to crack the problem. This work would be throwing immense light of ancient wisdom in this field and offers a logical solution, and even goes beyond to explain the process of evolution and ultimately liberation of soul.

O know the author, Dr. Y.V. Subha Rao, through his first book "Astrology on the Movin Zodiac (The One system for the East and the West) Published by the author 2004: ISBN 8175259396; 9788175259393 with the financial assistance of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. This work ushered in the renaissance of the subject of astrology, by restoring its position as an unchallengeable science in the times gone by, in the very land of its glory.

I congratulate him for authoring two more great volumes which truly are going to be store houses of knowledge and wisdom. I also congratulate the authorities of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Tirupati for publishing truly two great books befitting the objectives of the University. Science and Sastra are not opposed fundamentally but are seen as parts of the same great search for truth and enlightenment that inspired the sage of Hinduism. The above works clearly exhibit the need for a close collaboration of Sastra and Science to work as a panacea for all problems of people on the plundered planet for a peaceful living here and beyond. I feel deeply privileged to be able to write the foreword for this 'Magnum Opus'.

Preface

Astrology is the fruit of Astronomy. The life side of Astronomy is Astrology. If the study of astrology is worth of any civilised nation and the credit is due to the gigantic intellects of ancient India who labored at it. Leaving alone the mythological stories extant about the genesis of the science, the subjet was assiduously cultivated by the best intellects of ancient India such as Parasara, Gargi, Surya, Vyasa, Vasistha, Atri, Kasyapa, Jaimini, Manu, Varahamihira, Bhrigu, Arya Bhatta, Satyacharya, Vidyaranya, Yavanacharya, and many others to whom I owe my salutatutions. These illustrious men, judging from their astrological and other works, must have been head and shoulders above us, moderns. They have said the last word on the subject of astrology. The ancient Hindus excelled in all subjects that afforded the largest field for abstraction and contemplation. It was therefore left to such a people to perfect the Science of Astrology.

The science of Astrology has been vehemently opposed in the very land of its glory by the modern educated unbelievers with preconceived notions pronouncing it as pseudoscience; further said that belief in it is a retrograde step and spoils the scientific temper of one and all.

I have taken up this challenge to make my own researches whether the genesis of basic principles of Vedic Astrology have any scientific rationale. If so every rule principle of Vedic Astrology must Astronomy and/or its allied sciences in its base. I could not but exclaim 'eureka' when the results of my research for over decades in this endeavour have been quite amozing and confirmed they are the derivatives of Astronomy, Physics, Astrophysics, Geology, Geometry, Astrobiology and Hindu Philosophy.

At no time, I have had any about my convictions in this regard. I have, therefore, ventured to bring the results of my research work in the form of a book for the benefit of one all and dispel the doubts about Astrology as a science. Its main purport is to convert the educated unbeliever into a firm believer of this great science and acknowledge the gigantic intellects of ancient India. In the end, I can only feel the satisfaction, if this book ushers in at least a mental change of outlook in its readers and help the cause of Renaissance of Astrology in the very land of its glory.

Introduction

Recently, the University Grants Commission has proposed that the study universities in India to rejuvenate Vedic Astrology in the very land of its glory. Educated unbelievers hold that characterization of astrology for validation as a science is fundamentally different from those on which science is based. The subject matter of astrology is more often dismissed out of hand by the educated, due to a number of preconceptions.

The academics wondered why astrology needs to find a place at university. After all, it shows no interest in being linked to fields of science (not to biology, not to psychology, not to statistics, not to astronomy), or the humanities or the social sciences. As it happens, the think-tank noted from dictionaries in which astrology was dismissed as nonsense and not to be taken seriously. The think-tank felt that astrology needs to gain academic credentials in order to be taken seriously.

In fact, it is not place to state that Vedic Astrology is the fruit of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, Geology, Geophysics, Astrobiology, Mathematics, Geometry Philosophy, etc., all of which has common roots in man's ancient past and, as the research of the current day is hinting, is inextricably joined together in the face of a holistic cosmos. The geomagnetic field is an ever-changing phenomenon that influences human activity and the natural world in a myriad of ways. The geomagnetic field changes from place to place, and on time scales ranging from seconds to decades to eons in just the same way as planetary configurations in horoscopes differ from place to place and on change of time. Dr. Percy Seymour (1997) Astronomer/Astrophysicist, Plymouth University, UK explained in-depth the current anomalies and paradoxes in these areas of biology, chemistry and astrology that are beyond the domain of astrophysics and the interrelationship of living beings with the geomagnetic field, and its outlined sources of fluctuation. Thus the positions of planets at birth are not altering what we have inherited genetically but are labelling our basic inherited personality characteristics. Man is a Microcosm of the Macrocosm, the University.

In this Book. The genesis of vedic astrology is examined in the light of modern scientific principles of astronomy, Physics and other related disciplines. The results arrived at in the process have been very encouraging and exact in their perspective. The author being an engineer has applied the Principes of scientific management and attempted to verify the truth of astrology instead of abandoning it with preconceptions. It is found highly laudable of other researchers work in this direction. The author corroborates the results, of astronomers like Dr. Percy Seymour et al, with examples supporting the contention of Moon,s nodes prediction, relationship of family and planetary signification of colors etc, Further, human anatomy and physiology are the mirror reflection of the Solar System. This book purports to convert the modern educated unbeliever into a believer of astrology, a perfect science, and enjoy the fruits of fore-knowledge. The uncanny ability of the ancient Hindu sages to see the future renders Astrology as an unchallengeable universal science with a cosmopolitan outlook without discrimination of caste creed, colour, sex or nationality.
