Young Designer 2003

Preface

The convocation at the National Institute of Design is as such anticipated as any major festival or event. It is that time of the year when we celebrate the achievement of our diploma students from the various disciplines and showcase their design output. This year we proudly resent the creative translation of ideas of 83 students from nine disciplines.

In the eve of the 24th Convocation, we bring to you yet another colour filled edition of the Young Designers. he publication celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. Since 1989 we have ensured that the work of the graduating students finds a platform that can be accessed even after the celebrations and exhibition have ceased to be. Every year like our fresh brood of students, we seek to add freshness and joy to the publication itself. We have always strived to make our publication an expression of the celebration of student work in more ways than one. Last year our publication as complemented with an interactive CD, a first. This yea we bring to you further explorations on similar lines, A new easy reference brochure, longer film clips, ides by our esteemed faculty, a photographic journey down memory lane and quotations from the 23 eminent past convocation speakers add that much re zing to the interactive media experience.

Young Designers 2003 is once again a celebration of student-faculty team work quite in keeping with NID's unique approach to education that emphasizes on hands-on experience by both teachers and students in resolving real-life problems and deadlines. A small group of dedicated IT savvy student volunteers, alumnus and faculty have raced against time and other callings to bring out this publication.

The editors and the design team hope that Young Designers 2003 will provide you with a fair glimpse of the exciting developments in the Indian Design scenario,
