About the Book The Santals comprise the single largest tribal community in India. Though spread across the eastern states-Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and beyond - they yet form a distinct geography and culture.

The Santals are best known outside their community for their rich and distinct seren-enec or song-dance traditions. There is an intimate relationship between music, dance, musical instruments, language and performance within a particular setting and socialization. The book documents these musical traditions and their expression in a changing landscape.

About the Book This book is an outcome of a collaborative project between the Museum Rietberg, Zurich and the Crafts Museum, New Delhi, to document tangible and intangible heritage.
