Foreword
I doubt whether there is any author who can claim that they I have not allowed their experiences to influence their writings. I certainly can't. But, this is not an autobiographical novel. It is a work of fiction.

If anybody feels they recognise themselves in the host of characters who make their appearance, I would urge them to read further and see that this is a work of fiction. If they see resemblances it is because fragments have been borrowed from personalities to give characters verisimilitude. If anything, this reflects the indelible impression they have made by the strength of their personality.

This is not a historical or political treatise. What appears is what the young enquiring mind of the protagonist has garnered from all he has heard and read and then processed in his own mind. People may not agree with the views expressed, but that is their privilege and right. The same right of freedom I exercise as an author.

Not many people of this generation realise the bitterness that the pre-Independence generation carried within them as a result of their subject status under the British. Maybe this will help open a few eyes to the plight of the current generation of subjects across the world today.
