Foreword

I deem it a privilege to write a Foreword to Snehasiri: Cultural Contours of History and Archaeology, a collection of papers presented to Prof. P. Chenna Reddy by his friends, students and admirers. I have known Prof. P. Chenna Reddy for many years. He had been very active as Director of Archaeology and Museums in the Government of Andhra Pradesh. I remember Prof. Reddy participating in a number of meetings with great enthusiasm and articulating the cause of Archaeology of Andhra Pradesh.

As Director of Archaeology and Museums of Government of Andhra Pradesh, Prof. Reddy had been instrumental in planning and executing a number of important projects relating to Exploration, Excavation, Conservation, Development of Museums and Publication. The projects were implemented successfully under his able leadership.

It is natural that his friends and admirers take such an initiative to honour him with a collection of papers on amazingly diverse areas of History and Archaeology of India.

I am sure the Volume, planned by the enthusiastic friends and admirers of Prof. Reddy will contribute substantially to a better understanding of several hitherto unexplored aspects of India's past. I convey my warm wishes to Prof. P. Chenna Reddy and wish this initiative a great success. I congratulate the Editors Prof. K. Krishna Naik, Vice-Chancellor, Rayalaseema University, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh and Prof. E. Siva Nagi Reddy, Director, State Gallery of Art, who took lot of toil in bringing out the series of Book on record time.
