Till recent times scholars were busy, mainly, in tracing the political history of the different regions under the rule of different dynasties and Northern they devoted small sections in their work to the study of the Socio-Economic conditions. However, there are some scholars who focussed their attention on the Socio-Economic history of particular region. The works Socio-Economic Life of Northern India, Socio-Economic History of N India by S. Das, B.P. Majumdar respectively, are to be included in this category. Besides, some scholars worked on only economic conditions of ancient India. Famous works titled 'Economic History of Ancient India' by S.K. Das, 'E Study in the Economic Conditions in Ancient India' by Pran Nath, Vidyalankar etc. belong to this group. There are some scholars who dealt with the economic life of India during the rule of particularly dynasty and Economic Life of Ancient India in Gupta period' by S. Maity is this type of book.
Coming to Deccan we have number of works devoted to the study of the political history of almost all dynasties. Many of these works contain some portions dealing with Social, Economic and Religious Conditions as revealed through the inscriptions and from some other sources but the main object of these works is to trace the political history.
Besides, there are some books like Economic History of Deccan by Das, Dipakranjan and Social Life in Medieval Karnataka by Jyotsna Kamat giving information about the economic and social life of the regime of Calukyas of Kalyaņi, respectively.
