Preface

The Interface of Science and Religian: An Introductory Studies was published in 2017. I am happy to know that it was used as one of the primary textbooks for Science and Religion subject by the Bachelor of Divinity students of the Senate of Serampore College (University). The syllabus for Science and Religion was revised, and I was also part of that revision team. We have made substantial changes, and the previous book no longer covers the whole syllabus on Science and Religion. Several people asked me to revise it to cover the BD syllabus on Science and Religion so that it may be more relevant for the students in particular and the other readers in general. I spent nearly a year revising the book thoroughly, where a few new chapters are added, and several new sections are added to some chapters.
I thank my friend Mr. Sudhanshu Kanda of the Christian World Imprints, who encouraged me and pushed me to revise the book. Several reminders sent by him to finish the work were really helpful. I also appreciate the Christian World Imprints for their interest in publishing the book. I thank my wife and children for their help and encouragement to go the extra mile in doing the revision. Above all, I thank God for giving me the strength to finish the revision of this book for the benefit of especially the students who are studying Science and Religion at Bachelor of Divinity level.

Foreword

It is my privilege and joy to write a Foreword to The Interface of Science and Religion: An Introductory Study, written by my good friend, the Revd. Dr. Rodinmawia Ralte.
There is much confusion, especially among Christians, about the relation between Science and Religious Faith, with many choosing to keep them in separate compartments. Further, some Christians feel so threatened by scientific discoveries and theories that they close their mind to any reason and become fundamentalists and religious fanatics.
Having gone through the contents of the book. I find it to be a very systematic work and one that can be easily understood by those who do not have a background in the physical sciences. It will certainly be of help to those Christians who, knowing that God is a God of reason, seek to accommodate the best in Scientific knowledge within the framework of their understanding of who God is and what God's purposes in this universe are. It will also be of immense value to students of theology who want to learn more about how Religion and Science have interacted down the centuries. The book also deals comprehensively with the question of the ethical side of how science is applied in everyday life and has a good discussion of the biases that are so often present within the scientific community.
I warmly recommend the book to all who want to learn more about the wonders of God's creation and who try to make sense of the latest scientific discoveries within the framework of belief in the Creator God.
