Book Description

About the Book
Guru Amar Das was sixty-one when he found his coveted master Guru Angad Dev. Prior to his shifting of thoughts to Sikhism, Guru Amar Das was accustomed to the Vaishnav faith. None brought him solace and contentment despite the years that fiddled away in execution of the customs and traditions inherited from his mother. After his life encountered a radical change in concord with the celestial compositions, he dedicated himself in utter submission to serve his master. The latter bequeathed him the throne to carry forward the faith as the third Guru of the Sikhs. His contributions for the growth of religion turned out immensely prolific. The deluge of growth came from his establishment of twenty-two Sikh centers scattered across the country and abroad to propagate the doctrines of divine wisdom. For accurate access to religious texts, he collected the hymns of his predecessors and the Bhagats and preserved it into a volume. The ink of his poetic prowess scribed 907 hymns that added further an evangelical spirit to the collection. He personally ventured on elongated tours to impart spiritual reflections for the edification of the folks, preached equality, ascertained partaking of food by sitting with the others, admonished futile beliefs and rejected the caste system to curtail the further dampening of society. For the amelioration of women, the prevailing customs like Sati and Purdah were sternly attacked.

Preface
f anybody has to indulge himself in writing the vibrant accounts of The Third Nanak', he would easily end up diving into the extreme to have a glimpse of life ever so passionate and I am at no exception and I am thankful to God for letting me succeed in writing this profound piece of history.

This book is an attempt to elaborate the biography of Guru Amar Das through the pictorial presentation. The motivation behind retelling the lives of the Gurus had been my coveting of all the time. Voraciously excavating the historical scenes that had been in nerve-trot ever since my childhood days, I was tempted to take this matchless union to flourish down the vivid and glorifying accounts yet again.
