Preface

Sanskrit literature is a great ocean. The epics are precious stones here. Among them Kalidasa's works occupy the top most position.

Kumarasambhava is one among the five great epics. Lord Shiva and Parvathi get married to Destroy the demon Tharaka. The birth of Kumara (Karthikeya) is the main theme of this work. The theme of V canto is that Parvathi subjugate Lord Shiva by her rigorous penance. But the way of description of the poet, his concern for nature, his obsrevation of the human anture; even the subtle aspects of it, his oratory skills, determination, the way of reaching the goal, are all simply superb. Intensionally, this part is tanslated into English for the benifit of the readers with the central meaning. For the benifit of the languqga learners, the grammar portion of the verses are given. The questions are framed to help the students. This small work is composed, with the ambition that all the people having passion for Sansktrit should get the benifit out of this.
