Book Description

About The Book

The peacock is associated with Goddess Saraswati who represents Knowledge. It has unique and vibrant feathers that signify the Cosmic Eye. It is a creature of high evolution. Its call is the reference for the base note in Indian music - Sa -which represents the Sun.

Its feathers, affixed in any cap, carry the splendor of a crown, and thus Shri Krishna acquired it as His symbol.

One Truth - Tat Twam Asi (You Are That) - is expressed in a thousand different ways in the Vedas. Shri Krishna has distilled those expressions in the Geeta. Every verse, like the peacock's plume, mirrors the Sun's inspiring rays-the distribution of energy from a single source to countless receivers. Therefore, this journey to understand the Shrimad Bhagawad Geeta has been called Peacock Feathers.

BOOK TWO -YOGA OF KNOWLEDGE AND LOGIC- SAANKHYA

The most difficult obstacles to taking clear decisions are emotional relationships. Arjuna had to take the decision to fight his brothers, uncles and teachers. In this chapter of the Geeta, Shri Krishna explains the immortality of the soul - the individual program. The death of the body,'and the soul's acquisition of another one, is compared to changing old clothes for new ones. That which has been born will surely die. However, if one decides to fight against exploiters for the Natural Way of Life to be established in the interest of mankind, one should not be worried about death. From this chapter we learn- how to take decisions without any risk of repentance as a result. For this, one learns how to enjoy every action.

Book Two, the Yoga of Knowledge and Logic - Saankhya, explains these concepts so that they may be brought into practical life. After the above guidance, action proves inevitable. Book Three will show the source and inspiration for action.

About the Author

Dr. Shri Balaji Tambe was born to Shri Vasudev Tambe Shastri. Among those of the spiritual path, Shri Vasudev Tambe Shastri had attained a very high authority, and the child Balaji's attraction to, and, intelligence in that sphere were apparent and ingrained. The atmosphere at home was very conducive to the study of the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas and mantras and other spiritual techniques. At the age of five he began formal schooling as well as a formal spiritual education. While he completed and received his engineering degree, he had also mastered the spiritual sciences and went on to complete his training in Ayurveda. With the blessings of his parents and the Grace of Sadguru Shri Dattatreya he had studied both worlds - the physical, visible and rational, as well as the spiritual, subtle and omniscient. And further, he studied and researched the Indian traditions, Ayurveda and other Vedas, Puranas, mantra and tantra, yoga, astrology and music, to understand their essence and see how they can be applied to enrich various spheres of life.

Since the year 1965, he has been writing under the pen name `Aum Swarupa', and established a centre for meditation under that aegis. He has given deeksha (spiritual initiation) to many into the Aum chanting meditation practice called `Santulan Om Meditation' or SOM Yoga, and inspired their spiritual development. A large number of his disciples, both in India and abroad, now practice this meditation technique. This seven-fold technique's most important features include social service and group meditation. Since 1982, Dr. Tambe conducts an annual week-long seminar in the monsoon, where he focuses on the science and rationale of spirituals subjects, and demonstrates their practical aspects as well.

Dr. Shri Balaji Tambe has, over the years, developed both SOM Yoga, for meditation, and a special yoga technique called Santulan Kriya Yoga (SKY). Numerous people, through many centres, both in India and abroad, continue to benefit from these systems.
