About the Book The story of Rama, the righteous prince of Ayodhya, is so powerful and well-loved that it has been told and retold many times over the centuries. There have also been several retellings of the great Indian epic for children. But none of these versions adhere faithfully to the oldest version of Rama's story: Valmiki's Ramayana, composed about two-and-a-half thousand years ago. Ramayana for Children falls back on the original composition and retells the story of Rama, the beloved prince of Ayodhya, his virtuous and beautiful wife Sita, and of the demon-king Ravana who attained salvation at the hands of Rama, an avatar of Lord Vishnu.
Lucidly told, the story is made more engaging with the help of illustrations that will spur the imagination of young readers.
