Book Description

About the Book
In various scientific publications on the Vedic Scriptures we can read the opinion; the ancient authors of these texts are confused and they did not know the correct performance of the rituals, which they describe. But if we read these texts, then we see they correspond to each other. They have a basic agreement, but tell us on differences in the details of the rituals.. This speaks not of confusion, but of the existence of a different tradition. These ancient scholar know their rituals very well and we see in these texts a colourful picture of their historical past. We show in this Volume 1 an introduction to the Vedic Scriptures and the preliminary rituals of the ancient people, before the main ritual of worship and sacrifice take place. Volume 2-5 will show these rituals in all their aspects and in the way we find them described in the Vedic Scriptures. These texts are mainly manuals for the priests. We get exciting details and stories handed down to us.

Preface
We gave in a previous work a view on the different Rig Veda Sakha Samhita (Er fear), which we find referred to in the Vedic scriptures and the Puranic texts. We will give this work here as an introduction again, because we have more than these the Sakha Samhita compared here, but we didn't have them complete. Most of these we find only given in Vedic and Puranic texts, which we didn't have today available to us. The comparison of the different Sakha Samhita is a comparison of traditions, not of texts alone. We will not look only in the Rig Veda Samhita, we will look and compare what we find in the available texts of Brahmana, Aranyaka, Pratisakhya, Srautrasutra and Grhasutra, where we find details on the way of life and the practice of rituals done by the followers of these three Rig Veda Branches. This kind of study can be done only with Sakha Samhitas, which are more or less completely available to us. Of course we will look a little into the Sakha Samhita available in the Vedic texts, but the possibility for to give a good study on Samhita like Baskala (4) and others are very much limited to us. We will keep our main focus on these three Samhita with all their aspects as far as they are exciting from view of history. This include the recitation and the chanting of the Saman (4) in the sacrifice as well, therefore we will look in the aspects of the Sama Veda and the Yajur Veda as well.
